Do you know where to find Ireland’s best burger?

Nationwide search for the nation’s favourite is launched

Is this Ireland’s best burger, or do you know where to find one to top it?

Is this Ireland’s best burger, or do you know where to find one to top it?

The humble burger has come a long way, and next month an all-Ireland search to find the nation’s favourite will be launched.

BurgerFest 2018, in association with Ballymaloe Relish, will run from January 22nd-29th and more than 300 venues are expected to enter their signature burgers for the competition.

The public will be able to vote for their favourites using the hashtag #IrishBurgerFest, and there will be winners announced in every county, as well as a national champion.

Single patty or double? Squishy brioche bun or springy sourdough? Melty orange cheese or stringy mozzarella? Lettuce and tomato, or gherkin? The choice is vast, and burgers of all types will be considered.

Pubs, restaurants, cafes and fast food outlets across the country will be running burger specials, pop-ups, demonstrations and competitions celebrating the humble burger during the festival’s eight-day run.

The event is being co-ordinated by Festival Crew, the team behind Cork Food Festival, FEAST in Midleton, and Oktoberfest Beag.
