Returning emigrants: What are the biggest ‘barriers’?

Government is seeking submissions for report on difficulties

If you have recently returned to live in Ireland from abroad, what practical challenges did you face? If you are thinking about moving home, what "barriers" are hindering you?

Now’s your chance to vent your frustrations, experiences and suggestions direct to Government.

The Irish Abroad Unit at the Department of Foreign Affairs has commissioned an “economic report” on the barriers impeding returning Irish emigrants, and they want to hear your views.

Economic consultancy firm Indecon has been appointed to write the report, which will "inform Government policy and actions in relation to difficulties it finds".

If you have experienced difficulties with applying for a loan, getting insurance or swapping your driving licence, for example, you can tell the Irish Abroad Unit about them by emailing
