Úrscéal nua bleachtaireachta scríofa ag Alan Titley

‘Úrscéal cruabhruite’

Tá úrscéal nua scríofa ag ár gcolúnaí, Alan Titley. Lámh, Lámh Eile (Cló Iar-Chonnacht, €12) ainm an leabhair úir agus “úrscéal cruabhruite bleachtaireachta” atá ann.

Tá fear céile le bean de bhunadh an lucht siúil ar iarraidh; lorgann sí cabhair ar an bhleachtaire príobháideach, Shamus. Ní fada go bhfuil sé féin i mbun camchuairte fud fad na hÉireann agus é ar lorg an fhir atá ar iarraidh.

Bhuel, ní cruinn sin ar fad, is ar lorg píosaí den fhear bhocht atá sé nó tugann bean an fhir bosca don bhleachtaire a thugann leid nach raibh críoch shona lena céile fir: “Lámh a bhí ann, nó leathlámh le bheith cruinn. Ón gcaol amach go dtí barr na méireanna. Bós ina lár ag stánadh aníos orm.

“Na hingne féin gan a bheith dom bhagairt ina leith. Lámh shlán teascaithe go glan. An craiceann ar dhath na feamainne nár cognadh ó bhéal go béal fós.

“Le m’fhear céile í sin,” ar sise go grod, “an cabhair í le teacht air?”

Bhuel, fút, a léitheoir, atá sé fáil amach cén chabhair a bhí sa leathlámh.

Ní bheidh deacracht ar bith agat an scéal a léamh – nó an leabhar a aimsiú.

Tá clúdach breá gáifeach le Clifford Hayes ann, clúdach a chuirfeadh Jane Russell ar phóstaer de chuid B-scannáin na 1950í i gcuimhne duit.

Sea, tá obair shalach ar siúl agus fonn ar Shamus Spade an cás a fhiosrú, is cuma cén t-olc a chuireann sé ar na ruifínigh a chastar air.
