US country music star Luke Combs will headline a concert at Slane Castle, Co Meath, on Saturday, July 18th, 2026. The one-day music festival will also feature performances by The Script, Ty Myers and The Castellows. Tickets for the 80,000-capacity concert will go on sale on Friday, October 17th.

It is a surprise departure for the celebrated venue, which, it had been widely speculated, would play host to Oasis in the summer of 2026. The recently reformed Manchester band have played Slane twice in their career, and – following their sold-out Croke Park shows in August – were thought to be contenders for Slane next summer.

Speculation about a Luke Combs show mounted following the publication on Instagram on Tuesday of a video featuring Combs’ branding superimposed on to a Slane crowd and soundtracked by his song My Kinda Saturday Night.

The Slane appearance forms part of Combs’s My Kinda Saturday Night tour, which includes stadium shows across North America and Europe.

“There’s nothing like a headline show on a full tour with all of my fans,” Combs says. “We’re going to eight different countries, bringing along a ton of great support, and by then will have a lot of new music to play.”

Combs is the first country music artist to have two songs earning a billion streams on Spotify. He also recently became the highest RIAA certified country artist ever, with 168 million units sold, surpassing Garth Brooks.

Slane has played host to some of the biggest names in rock and pop over its 30-year-plus history, including The Rolling Stones, Thin Lizzy, Metallica and Harry Styles. In recent years country music stars have become big players in the music industry, with artists from different genres – from Beyoncé to Post Malone – dabbling in the country music genre, seeking to capitalise on its popularity.

Slane Castle has also received a welcome boost of publicity of late with the success of The Traitors Ireland, the reality show filmed at Slane, drawing millions of eyes to its iconic Meath setting.

A firestorm of comments on Slane’s Instagram page highlighted the diversity of opinions on the choice of Combs, who will be the first to play the venue since Slane Castle owner, Henry Mountcharles, died in June. “Is he opening for Oasis?” wrote Emmet Morrison, reflecting the views of disappointed indie fans.

“The music snobbery in these comments is ridiculous,” wrote Elaine B. “I saw Oasis this year and yes, they were incredible. But I’m also a huge country fan. Combs is one of the biggest acts in the world right now. I, for one, can’t wait to join the Ticketmaster Hunger Games.”

Tickets, limited to eight per transaction and priced from €121.25 including booking fee, will be available on general release from Friday, October 17th at 10am.

Combs’ official fan club, The Bootleggers, tickets pre-sale starts on Tuesday, October 14th, at 10am. The MCD presale begins on Wednesday, October 15th, at 10am.
