THE Institute of Professional Auctioneers and Valuers (IPAV) has introduced new evening certificate courses in fine and decorative arts, which are to be conducted in Cork and Kilkenny.

Both are 10-week courses, with classes on one evening a week covering the history of silver, glass, paintings and furniture and architecture. The course in Cork will be held at the Crawford Art Gallery, beginning on March 14th. In Kilkenny, classes will be held in Kilkenny Castle, starting from March 20th. The cost of each course is £185. In Dublin, there are still places available on the Irish Auctioneers and Valuers Institute's (IAVI) advanced evening course in Irish art, silver and furniture, which starts on March 20th.

This course will involve a series of nine lectures of two hours each, to be held at the IAVI's headquarters on Merrion Square, Dublin 2. The lectures will cover a wide range of topics, including Georgian and Victorian furniture and the history of Irish art. Lecturers include Brian Coyle and James O'Halloran of James Adam salerooms. The fee is £150.
