A man is in hospital with serious injuries after being attacked during a break-in at his home in Co Carlow over the weekend.
At around 11pm on Saturday night, three men broke into the house on Sleaty Street in the Graiguecullen area of Carlow Town. The occupant, who is aged in his 60s, was beaten by the men who also stole a sum of money before escaping in a car.
The victim was taken to St Luke’s Hospital for treatment. Gardaí described his injuries on Monday as serious but non-life threatening.
An investigation has been launched by gardaí in Carlow and the house has undergone a technical examination. On Monday, gardaí appealed for witnesses to come forward, particularly anyone with information on a white Opel or Vauxhall Insignia type car which was seen in the area at the time of the break-in.

Road users who may have dashcam footage who were in the Duggan Avenue and Sleaty Street area of Graiguecullen between 10.45pm and 11.30pm on July 2nd, 2022 are also asked to come forward.
