The Connemara-based electronics company, Telemara, which has a turnover of about £2.75 million, has been acquired by the US industrial components company, Insilco, for an undisclosed sum from two local businessmen, Udaras na Gaeltachta announced yesterday. The State-sponsored regional development board said that following its approval of a financial package, the plant was expected to increase its workforce from 85 to 300 in the next five years. Insilco had a turnover of more than $500 million (£345 million) in 1997.
