Workers at Frankfurt airport to continue strike

TRAVEL:A STOPPAGE by ground crew at Frankfurt airport which has grounded hundreds of flights will continue for a third day today.

The workers’ union said it was prepared to continue the dispute for weeks.

Airport operator Fraport has rejected a proposed settlement from an arbitrator.

The workers, who guide aircraft in and out of parking positions, are seeking higher pay, arguing their jobs have become more complex following the introduction of a fourth runway last October.

Fraport said it expected up to 70 per cent of flights to operate as normal. – (Reuters)
