Web Log: Get your apps in gear for the Ploughing Championships

The agrifood sector has embraced technology enthusiastically so now you can follow the championships on Facebook and Twitter

Grab your wellies , we're off to the National Ploughing Championships (NPC) for the day. There's lots to do and see: from the ploughing, sheep shearing and sheep dog trials to a vintage farm equipment exhibition and robotic milking demonstrations (and don't forget the live brown bread baking).

The agrifood sector has embraced technology in ways that have left many other sectors of the economy looking positively luddite.

This, of course, is the age of social media and smartphones so come equipped by following the NPC on Facebook and Twitter (@NPAIE)

There's also the Ploughing 2015 app from the Irish Farmers Journal. This app has a rundown of events that allows you to plan your visit, and a handy "find my car" feature for dropping a pin where you left it because a lot of those fields look the same.
