Software companyt SQS says it has potential to grow beyond 75 new jobs

SQS has the potential to grow well beyond the 75 new jobs it announced yesterday if it can find qualified candidates, according to the software company’s chief executive.

The firm, which specialises in software testing, is expanding globally as it targets growth markets.

SQS said it would add 75 jobs to its 200-strong workforce in Dublin and Belfast. However, group chief executive Dik Vos (pictured) indicated gro- wth could be far greater if it could find qualified candidates. “Our growth will be very much driven by the talent we find. I think if we could find more talent we could grow faster.”

He said it had become more difficult to hire staff, with SQS turning to innovative methods to find employees. For example, it takes in graduates for a boot camp that puts them through intense training. Mr Vos said this resulted in loyal employees.

Some 50 of the jobs announced yesterday will be in Dublin, with 25 at its Belfast operation. Although the company has links with University of Limerick and Dundalk IT, its Irish managing director, Phil Codd, said it was willing to look at talent pools such as school-leavers with an aptitude for software testing.
