Apple has announced a new version of its Retina-enabled iPad that doubles the capacity of the device. The move comes as Microsoft prepares to put its Surface tablet on sale outside the US. The pro version Windows 8 device has a top capacity of 128GB.
The larger capacity iPad will go on sale on February 5th and will cost €809 for the wifi-only version and €939 for the mobile data-enabled device. The fourth generation of the iPad is powered by a A6X chip and supports Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks.
More than 120 million iPads have been sold since it made its debut in 2010.
Apple has also released a smaller version of the tablet, the iPad Mini, which went on sale in November 2012.
