A Taiwanese manufacturing company, Chia Cherne Cable Company, is to invest £1.4 million (#1.8 million) in a new European manufacturing headquarters at Carrick-on-Suir, Co Tipperary, the Tanaiste, Ms Mary Harney announced yesterday. The IDA Ireland-sponsored operation will create 30 jobs, three quarters of which will be at production level. The company will produce cable and cable housings for use in bicycle brakes and gear changing applications. It is establishing the Irish operation to improve delivery times to its European customers.
