McIlroy image revenues near £1m profit

The image and marketing rights company owned by one of the world’s top golfers, Rory McIlroy (above), recorded pre-tax profits of £995,188 (€1.17million) in its second year of operation.

Accounts lodged with the Companies House in the UK underline the Northern Ireland man’s earning power with revenues from merchandising and appearance fees topping £1.28 million in the 12 months to the end of December last.

The filings for Boywood Ltd, 100 per cent owned by current world No 2 McIlroy, say the principal activity of the UK-based company “is to market and turn to profit the name, fame and image and marketing rights of sporting personalities”.

Boywood’s revenues were made up of £1.05 million in merchandising and £229,826 in appearance fees.

The filings do not take account of McIlroy’s tour winnings from 2012. Last year he became the youngest player to reach $10 million in career earnings on the PGA tour.
