Limerick Corporation has forecast the creation of 1,200 new jobs as a result of approval by the Department of the Environment for its Integrated Area Plan. An investment of £20 million (€25.4 million) will bring the jobs on stream, in new office, shop, commercial and tourism developments.

The corporation's draft annual report for 1998 reveals that the local authority received more than 70 submissions and is focusing on 63 locations in the city in the new plan.
