THE BANK of England Governor, Mr Eddie George, yesterday expressed renewed doubts about the single European currency and said Britain should join the euro only if it looked likely to be a "safe club". Mr George, who has expressed caution in the past about Britain joining the planned single currency, said there were serious economic risks in pressing ahead with economic and monetary union (EMU) when unemployment was so high in Europe.
