Last week's "On the Margin" column incorrectly stated that Irish stockbrokers were not obliged to have any formal qualifications. In fact, since the split from the London Stock Exchange in December 1995, potential stockbrokers must sit the registered representative examinations run by the Irish Stock Exchange in conjunction with Dublin City University. This is the minimum requirement for individuals to deal on the exchange.
