THE four main Internet service providers in Ireland have awarded a contract to Cara Computer Systems to manage the State's first independent Internet exchange. This facility will allow members to exchange Irish Internet traffic locally in Ireland rather than transmitting the data across international boundaries and is claimed to provide a significant performance improvement.
