THE AMERICAN call centre operator TeleTech plans to create 80 additional jobs at its Belfast operations. TeleTech, which is part of Colorado-headquartered global business process outsourcing company TeleTech Holdings, employs 500 people in Northern Ireland.
It hopes to recruit people fluent in 15 European languages over the next four weeks to service new and existing contracts.
Craig Reines, senior vice president for TeleTech’s Emea Service Delivery said: “These are excellent opportunities for qualified multilingual candidates.
“With the downturn in the global economy, we are particularly pleased and excited to be able to introduce these positions into the Belfast job market.”
TeleTech recently reported second-quarter earnings which showed a turnover of $301.5 million (€212.6 million) compared to $357.4 million in the corresponding second quarter 2008.
The jobs boost for Belfast came as the North lost a further 138 jobs in the space of just 24 hours.
BE Aerospace in Kilkeel, Co Down, which manufactures airline seats plans to reduce its workforce by 88, while in Belfast, engineering company Central Group Services has confirmed it will close its doors with the loss of 50 jobs.
