Bord Gáis Energy's new head of retail, Mark Prentice, took the young director of the year title at the recent Institute of Directors UK awards, for his work with the State company's subsidiary, Firmus Energy.

As managing director of that business, Mr Prentice oversaw its direction, business planning and operational delivery in Northern Ireland. Bord Gáis chief executive, John Mullins, said it reflected Mr Prentice's work in establishing and developing Firmus Energy's presence in the northern Irish market.
