Amoco shareholders vote to merge with BP

Shareholders of Amoco Corp yesterday overwhelmingly approved its planned merger with British Petroleum Co

Shareholders of Amoco Corp yesterday overwhelmingly approved its planned merger with British Petroleum Co. Plc , with 98 per cent of the votes cast in favour of the deal.

Chairman and chief executive officer, Mr H. Laurance Fuller, told shareholders that the deal, which would create the world's third-largest oil company, was also cleared on Thursday by the European Union. The merger must still be approved by US regulatory authorities.
