A £31 million (#39.4 million) plan to prepare the food industry for structural change has been initiated as part of the National Development Plan. It will concentrate on human resource needs in the industry - which has a skills shortage - and will target some large companies individually but also target the whole sector, drawing in the bulk of the 700 companies and 40,000 people involved in food production.
