Carl Watts, who saved his European Tour career by finishing runner-up in the BMW International in Munich, has been rewarded with the Johnnie Walker European Tour Golfer of the Month award for August.
Rookie Watts, 26, went to Germany 149th on the Order of Merit and although he lost a three-hole play-off to Swede Robert Karlsson his cheque for £83,320 lifted him all the way to 47th on the money list.
Brighton-born Watts, who receives a golf ball decanter from jewellers Garrard and earns £1,000 for both the Golf Foundation and Tour Benevolent Trust, said: "It's a great honour, the icing on the cake after the best week of my career so far."
