Racing: War Of Attrition, a disappointing favourite for the Arkle Chase at Cheltenham, is not finished for the season and will appear again at the Punchestown Festival.

The Grade One Swordlestown Cup is a target for the Mouse Morris-trained horse who was a costly failure for Irish punters at the festival. "In hindsight we tried to pack too much in a bit too quickly. Because of the injury problem we just hadn't the groundwork done with him. Last January he wasn't going at all, but we had to have a try because we think so much of him," said Morris.

The Co Tipperary-based trainer did hit the festival mark with Fota Island in the Grand Annual and that horse could go to Liverpool.

"There is also the chance of going to Punchestown despite him having been put up 13lb for winning," added Morris.

Another Arkle failure was Mariah Rollins but she could make a quick reappearance in Tuesday's Power Gold Cup at Fairyhouse. Her trainer, Pat Fahy, reports that the mare has emerged in good shape from her festival effort.

An interesting starter at Thurles today is the point-to-point winner Renepogel in the two-and-three-quarter-mile maiden hurdle. Andrew McNamara takes 3lb off the horse who was just beaten by Penny Scribe in a Clonmel bumper. So Proper was third in that race and could be the one in the last, while the in-form Arc En Ciel is hard to oppose in the novice hurdle.
