BASKETBALL:After a weekend of quarter-final games, just four teams remain standing in the Basketball Ireland Men's and Womens SuperLeague Cups.

Last season UL won both codes and the opportunity for a historic repeat remains a possibility with both their teams, Eagles and Huskies, victors at the weekend.

For Eagles, their 20-point Men’s SuperLeague Cup quarter-final win against Killester was particularly impressive for the spread of scoring that accompanied it.

Regular top scorer Rob Taylor contributed 21 points but he was joined by point guard Scott Kinevane who had 20 and Jason Killeen who chipped in with 19.

Eagles will now face UCD Marian, who defeated a plucky but short-handed Moycullen outfit in Galway. Eagles will be big favourites in this semi-final match up.

On the far side of the draw, Bord Gáis Neptune recovered from a 14 point first half deficit against a red-hot Dublin Inter to emerge winners on a final score line of 85 to 79.

And a mouth-watering all Cork semi-final clash of Neptune and UCC Demons was set up after Demons defeated DCU Saints 81 to 72 in Dublin.

Demons handled the new signing for Saints, 6 foot 11 inch Conor Grace superbly, holding him to just six points.

In the Women’s SuperLeague Cup, UL Huskies will be joined in the final four by WIT Wildcats, Team Montenotte Hotel Cork and DCU Mercy after all the favourites won their respective games.
