Noel Chance's gelding, winner of the 2000 Tote Gold Cup at Cheltenham, has not raced since damaging a tendon when running away with the James Nicholson Champion Chase at Down Royal in November that year.

But Chance is delighted with his progress and hopes his stable star could be back on the course in January - "fingers crossed".

"It's just a swing around for him, nothing serious," the trainer said. "He'll canter round two miles and probably just go a bit quicker the last seven furlongs."
