Celtic first-team coach Alan Thompson will hear no talk of a tainted title win this season, with the Hoops on the cusp of bringing the Premier League trophy back to Parkhead for the first time in four years.

Neil Lennon’s men only need a draw against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park today to wrap up a championship that looked out of their reach in November when they fell 15 points behind Rangers, albeit with two games in hand.

Celtic had leapfrogged their Old Firm rivals by the time the ailing Ibrox club were deducted 10 points in February for entering administration.

However, the former Celtic midfielder said: “It is difficult to compare the playing side to now but this would, I think, be sweeter than anything I achieved. All this talk of tainted titles from pundits is an absolute nonsense.”
