Second row Zeeshan Ali pounced for the opening try in the 20th minute. It was overtaken by a penalty try, converted by outhalf Jason McCarthy, to put Marian in sight of a Premier Junior first round tie with Blackrock College.
It was not to be as Evan Rogers chipped the ball through for it to bounce kindly for openside Oisin Manning to ground the ball for the winning score.
