Viewing audiences for T na G's twice weekly All-Ireland Gold series outscores all other programmes produced at the station.
A survey carried out by Neilsen, the television audience marketing company, shows that 300,000 viewers switch on weekly for the two full length matches. The station's next most viewed programme is the evening news.
A spokesman at T na G said yesterday that the 300,000 figure does not include viewers at clubs or pubs. He added that a most gratifying response to the series has been from the players. Since the series begun, the matches to attract most interest were the 1970s meetings of Dublin and Kerry.
The station intends to broaden its coverage by introducing county finals into the series later this year.
In addition, a delayed showing of the entire Tipperary-Galway National Hurling League semi-final on the evening of the match on August 23rd is planned.
Meanwhile, Dublin's former All-Ireland captain and goalkeeper John O'Leary is still interested in being manager of the Louth senior football team. He has met County Board officials, who have interviewed a number of candidates for the post.
A decision is expected next week.
