Maik Taylor has claimed his Birmingham goalkeeping rival Colin Doyle "has the world at his feet" even though the Irish youngster has just lost his place to the Northern Ireland number one.

Doyle took over from Taylor between the posts for the final third of last season and played a major part in City regaining their Premier League status at the first attempt.

A poor start by Doyle  to the current campaign has led to a recall for the 35-year-old Taylor who helped Blues gain their first win of the season at Derby on Saturday.

But Taylor believes Doyle has a bright future in the game despite his recent dip in form.

Taylor said: "Doyley will be disappointed now. I've experienced that myself as well but I've always managed to bounce back. He has still got the world at his feet.

"He's only 22 and he is such a massive presence. He towers over you at six feet, six inches and he's got all the attributes to go very far in the game. It's important that he works hard on the training ground."
