Soccer:Cesare Prandelli is considering keeping all six of the forwards he named in his preliminary squad in the Italy camp for Euro 2012, possibly at the expense of a defender.
The Azzurri's options up front looked to be limited earlier this month when Giussepe Rossi was ruled out of the Championships through injury, and Milan's Antonio Cassano was making a tentative comeback to the game after heart complications.
Prandelli had also omitted 21-year-old Mario Balotelli on a number of occasions because of the player's indiscipline in the Premier League, while he ignored the impressive Serie A form of veteran Udinese captain Antonio Di Natale for two years.
Now, however, he has a full house, with Balotelli, Cassano and Di Natale joined by Roma's Fabio Borini, Mattia Destro of Siena and Parma's Sebastian Giovinco. And Prandelli insists all are welcome in Poland where Italy will take on Spain, Croatia and the Republic of Ireland.
"All of the six strikers have truly touched me," he said. "They have quality and are modern strikers. They all deserve to be here. If we keep all six, then we will sacrifice a defender."
The manager inists he has seen a change in Balotelli and has welcomed him as a focused and determined member of the squad, who will not let his team down.
"When I heard Balotelli say that he will not leave Italy down to 10 men, I believed him 100 per cent," Prandelli said to Gazzetta dello Sport. "There is a great atmosphere in the team and there is a big awareness that something significant can be achieved.
"The players know this is an exceptional opportunity for them, they are taking responsibility and they will not fail."
