Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon is "almost certain" David Beckham will stay at the club beyond the end of the season.
Real are negotiating with Beckham and his representatives over a new contract, with the midfielder's current deal running out next summer.
Calderon has made no secret of the fact he and Real coach Fabio Capello want Beckham to remain at the club, and the president is convinced the player will commit to a new deal.
"I believe that he is going to stay. I am almost certain," said Calderon. "What is happening is that I am one part of this possible agreement.
"I notice the player is happy here. It will delight me if he helps us in our work."
Beckham has been used largely as a substitute this season, earning a rare start in yesterday's Copa del Rey match at Ecija when Capello rested a number of Real's first-choice players.
The former England captain recently revealed his frustration at the situation, but Calderon believes the 31-year-old is generally content at the club.
"I think David Beckham is happy in Madrid and Madrid are happy with David Beckham," said Calderon. "Logic dictates we will continue together. We are a marriage that is working well."
Beckham, meanwhile, trained away from the rest of the Real team today after picking up a knock during the cup draw against Ecija.
