Blackburn's Tony Kane and Joseph O'Cearuill of Arsenal - both of whom recently declared for the Republic of Ireland - will make their debuts for Don Givens' under-21 side against Luxembourg tomorrow.

With no competitive fixture until August next year, Givens has one eye on the future as he prepares his new-look squad for the friendly at the Stade Fr Trausch in Mamer - a game which senior manager Steve Staunton will take in.

Many of the squad the manager had worked with during the recent European Championship qualification campaign are now overage while injuries have also weakened the squad originally named for this fixture.

Still, Givens feels tomorrow's match is a golden opportunity for new players to make their mark at this level.

"At the moment, we don't have too many more friendly games confirmed before next summer, so it's vital that those who play tomorrow grab their chance," he said.

"I'm confident that these lads have enough quality to assert themselves in the team and a good performance is what we're seeking from them."
