Premier League Round-up:Arsenal ripped apart sorry Portsmouth to continue their impressive start to the season with a 4-1 romp at Emirates Stadium. Abou Diaby — one of four changes by Arsene Wenger — smashed in a first-half brace to set the rampant Gunners on their way.

Although Younes Kaboul pulled a goal back, it was only delaying the inevitable as William Gallas bundled in his third goal in as many games, before youngster Aaron Ramsey wrapped things up.

Arsenal had smashed six at Everton before winning the first leg of their Champions League qualifier 2-0 away to Celtic in midweek.

Next up in the Premier League is a trip to Old Trafford. More of the same there and indications will be this could yet be a vintage season for Wenger’s young Gunners.

Portsmouth, though, have now lost all three of their matches so far — and it looks set to be a long campaign ahead for the Fratton Park club, who have yet to resolve their ownership issue.

Manchester City maintained their 100 per cent record with a 1-0 win over Wolves at the Eastlands Stadium, with former Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor earning all three points for City with a 17th minute strike.

Struggling Hull managed to earn their fist win of the season and moved out of the bottom three when City’s new signing Kamel Ghilas pounced in the 61st minute to give them a 1-0 success over Bolton — their first home win since last December.

Stoke earned a point with a 0-0 draw at Birmingham, who are now seventh, but worryingly for Stoke they lost striker James Beattie through injury early in the opening half.

Two goals from Kenwyne Jones helped Sunderland fight back to beat Blackburn 2-1 at the Stadium of Light. Rovers went in front in the 20th minute after a sustained spell of pressure when Gael Givet found the net with a crisp drive from outside the penalty area.

But Kenwyne Jones levelled in the 31st minute with his first goal of the season and then completed a fine afternoon for Steve Bruce’s side by notching the winner in the 54th minute.
