FIFA yesterday backed the decision to replay the FA Cup match between Arsenal and Sheffield United - but are against rule changes to stop a similar incident happening again.

The fifth-round tie will be re-staged at Highbury following the intervention of Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, who was unhappy with Marc Overmars' controversial winner in his side's 2-1 victory.

The English Football Association immediately agreed to Wenger's offer of a re-match and that move has been supported by FIFA, football's world governing body.
