IAN RUSH and Stephen Geoghegan compared their respective, and not inconsiderable, goalscoring talents as Shelbourne retrieved a two goal deficit to earn a draw with Danish champions' Brondby in a friendly at Tolka, Park last night.
A slick first half display by Brondby had them 2-0 up at the break with strikes from Kim Daugaard in the 10th minute and Per Nielsen five minutes before the interval.
Shelbourne, who started with just five of the side which beat Bohemians on Friday night, made six changes at the interval, thus treating us to the sight of National League top scorer Geoghegan partnering Rush, the guest for the night, in the Shelbourne attack.
Geoghegan got Shelbourne back into the game in the 61st minute when his powerful shot from the edge of the box looped over Brondby goalkeeper Mogens Krogh thanks to a deflection off a defender.
And, as if written in the script, Rush struck with his wholly appropriate contribution to equalise six minutes later.
