Sakhee set to miss Curragh event

The Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner, Sakhee, will not run in the Tattersalls Gold Cup in nine days time.

The Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner, Sakhee, will not run in the Tattersalls Gold Cup in nine days time.

The Godolphin team have decided to postpone Sakhee's first European start of the season.

Instead it looks likely that Tobougg will fly the flag for Dubai in the 10- furlong Group One contest over the Guineas weekend.

"Sakhee will come out later in the year but we haven't a firm plan for him yet," the Godolphin spokesman Simon Crisford said yesterday. "We will probably run Tobougg at the Curragh instead." Tobougg, a Dewhurst and Prix Salamandre winner as a juvenile, ran third to Galileo in last year's Epsom Derby.

Crisford also reported that no firm plans have been drawn up about either of the Entenamnn's Guineas races.

"It's a bit early to say but we will probably be a bit light in the Guineas races," he said.

A decision on the formulation of the Ballydoyle challenge for the Curragh is not likely until next week but the chances of Hawk Wing taking his chance in the race are still high.

Aidan O'Brien said yesterday that the fillies he ran in the English 1,000 Guineas are all possible runners in the Irish equivalent and that Quarter Moon could also take in the Epsom Oaks.

"I think it's possible to run in both races and Quarter Moon seems in good order since Newmarket," he said. Last year Imagine completed the Irish Guineas-Epsom Oaks double for the Ballydoyle trainer.

This evening there is more black type action at Cork with the listed Blue Wind Stakes for fillies.

Villa Carlotta will be fancied for this on the back of a third to Rebelline in the Mooresbridge and the current form being shown by the Bolger horses.

However, the threat of the once-raced Esterlina cannot be overlooked and there should be improvement in the Oxx runner.

The Bolger followers will probably be out in force in the following handicap, where Margarula has to carry a 5lb penalty for her victory at Leopardstown on Sunday.

She will again be ridden by apprentice David Moran and the principal worry about her could be the drop back in trip from a mile and a half.

The Sligo winner, Christmas Crackle, can be the answer to the beginners' chase with Barry Geraghty on board and the jockey could also be on the mark with Discerning Air in the mares novice chase.

At the evening's other fixture, at Downpatrick, Willie Mullins looks to provide the solution to the second division of the apprentice maiden with the Punchestown runner-up Czar Of Peace.
