Leinster make light work of Moseley

Jack Conan scores two of the home team’s 10 tries

Leinster 68 (Tries: Conan (2); Nacewa, McFadden, McGrath, Leavy, Beirne, Van der Flier, Fanning; pen try Cons: Nacewa (5); McFadden (4)) Moseley 0

It was steady as they go for Leo Cullen's coltish charges at Donnybrook last night as Leinster overwhelmed visitors Moseley on a day when one of his men Zane Kirchner was confirmed in South Africa's World Cup squad.

Two of Joe Schmidt's possibles, centre Gordon D'Arcy and prop Michael Bent, had all the motivation in the world to make a statement of intent.

And so too did Fergus McFadden, Jack Conan and Isaac Boss when they were introduced at half-time.

Mick McGrath swatted away two timid tackles on the counter to set Leinster on the way to a bloodless victory with Isa Nacewa adding the conversion in the second minute.

The second came through the rise of Mike McCarthy at the lineout and the patience of a maul for flanker Dan Leavy to pinch another try.

Nacewa hammered fullback Charlie Foley into touch to announce his return to the province and was the beneficiary of a slick move involving Collie O'Shea, Cathal Marsh and McGrath to land a try and conversion for 21-0 just shy of the break.

Good enough

Conan was next up to hold the pill at the rear of another powerful forward drive and his second try came from a support line good enough to reward Marsh’s darting run.

Nacewa’s fifth conversion was enough to make it 35-0 in the 53rd minute.

Replacement Tadhg Beirne crunched over from short range and the home side's powerful scrum soon churned out a penalty try.

McFadden slipped in for his try at the corner and the impressive Josh van de Flier made up for a previous error with one of his own.

Darragh Fanning took the home side’s total to ten tries as Conan continued to show authority on the ball.
