SCHOOLS' GAMES VINNIE MURRAY CUP QUARTER-FINALS:  Gonzaga College17 CUS 5:A FIRST-QUARTER blitz from Gonzaga College ensured their safe passage into the semi-final against a never-say-die CUS at Stradbrook yesterday.

The strong running Ireland Under-19 Schools’ outside centre Daniel Diviney was their fulcrum in midfield for a first-minute try from right wing Richard Lenehan, converted by inside centre Stephen Murphy. Soon after, Diviney was taken down by CUS fullback Colm Driver before winger Seán Murphy made it 12-0 in the 17th minute.

From there on, CUS dominated the breakdown but still, a swift breakout, in the 51st minute gave Sean Murphy the chance to stretch for his second. CUS kept going to the end when their captain Mark Darby grounded the ball from a lineout and drive.
