Mick Byrne may have tried out a few different combinations of players and switched between formations in recent weeks but the Shamrock Rovers boss admits that his team for tonight's Harp Lager League Cup semi-final with Galway United at Tolka Park more or less picks itself.

"We've got 11 players," says Byrne, "and after that we'll be looking at having a few of the young lads on the bench. But that's not going to change the way we go into the game. Everybody fit will be giving it everything because it's important to us to win this competition again."

Rovers difficulties with injuries and suspensions continue. Gino Brazil (ear infection) and Richie Purdy (broken collar bone) will both be missing after coming off during the game in Cork at the weekend, Jason Sherlock and Brendan Markey are both still sidelined with knee injuries while Matt Britton is suspended.

Galway look to be better fixed for the game with just striker Ryan Lucas (hamstring) looking likely to miss out. In his absence Eric Levine will partner Ricky O'Flaherty up front.

Work on the construction of a new stand at the Sligo Show-grounds is now expected to start in February, following the receipt of planning permission.

The stand, which is expected to be completed by August, is modelled on the new structure at Turner's Cross and with a capacity of 2,000 will meet a long felt need at the club.

The National League have named the club officials that will sit on the Protest Committee which is to be convened later tomorrow in order to consider Shelbourne's case for a replay of their game in Cork. They are: Eddie Murray (Monaghan Utd), Alan Duncan (St Francis), Ronan Seery (Home Farm Everton), Joe Colwell (Shamrock Rovers) and Kevin Friel (Derry City).
