Jason Quigley and Hugh Myres will be looking to upgrade their guaranteed bronze medals to at least silver in their respective semi-finals at the European U-23 Championships in Russia today.

The Donegal and Kildare boxers are in against Russian middleweight Maksim Timofeev and Israeli light-flyweight David Albrdian at the Sports Palace in Kaliningrad.

Former European Youth champion Quigley (Illies Golden Gloves BC) joined Myres (Ryston BC) in the last-four with a 12-9 win over Victor Carapchevschii of Moldova on Saturday. But there was semi-final disappointment for ex-Elite champion Declan Geraghty and Mark O’Hara who crashed out.

Stephen Treacy, a team-mate of Myres at the Ryston BC, secured the flyweight belt at the Intermediate Championships at the National Stadium on Friday night.
