Sydney Olympic organisers have called in Australian golfing star Greg Norman to help fill a £60-million shortfall in their sponsorship target of £366 million.

"Greg's involvement in America will be very helpful, particularly in the fund-raising and sponsorship areas," said Karen Webb, spokeswoman for the Sydney Organising Committee.

Norman, who is based in Florida, could supply Sydney's 50,000 volunteers with his trademark "great white shark hats" and raise funds for the Australian Olympic team by staging three pro-am golf tournaments.
