SPORTS DIGEST:CRICKET: Stuart Broad claimed his first win as England's Twenty20 captain following a last-over six-wicket win against India at Old Trafford last night.
Jade Dernbach’s record-equalling figures of four wickets for 22 runs by an England bowler paved the way for victory in the one-off match after India were bowled out for 165.
England made heavy work of their chase, but with 10 needed from Vinay Kumar’s final over Samit Patel hit three successive fours to guide England home with three balls left.

Wiggins takes over the lead in Vuelta
CYCLING: Netting the fourth Vuelta stage win of his career, Frenchman David Moncoutie (Cofidis) finished over a minute clear at the Estación de Montaña Manzaneda yesterday. The 36 year old attacked from the day's big break and beat Spanish riders Beñat Intxausti (Movistar Team) and Luis Leon Sanchez (Rabobank Cycling Team).
Irish pro Daniel Martin rode well, surging clear on the final climb but was hauled back soon afterwards by a group led by Bradley Wiggins (Sky Procycling). Wiggins and Martin finished in a group three minutes and eight seconds behind Moncoutie, with the former taking over the race lead from team-mate Chris Froome.
Martin was 22nd while his first cousin Nicolas Roche (Ag2r La Mondiale) was a further four places and 23 seconds behind.
Wiggins ended the day seven seconds ahead of Froome and 11 ahead of last year’s winner Vincenzo Nibali (Liquigas-Cannondale).
Roche is now 18th, three minutes 50 seconds down, while Martin is 23rd, four minutes 38 seconds back. He dropped from first to third in the King of the Mountains competition, with triple winner Moncoutie now leading.
US open defence in blistering form
SAILING: The United States opened their defence of the World Team Racing Championship at Schull yesterday with blistering form and a near perfect return of 11 wins from 12 matches in breezy conditions in West Cork.
The New York Yacht Club “USA 1” team were beaten only by the “Britain 1” team who are tied overnight for second place overall with the third British squad.
Ireland’s first team won just over half their matches and were tied for fifth with the Australian 2010 Youth world champions.
However, the first Irish team in the Youth event are joint overall leaders with Spain after winning six out of seven races yesterday.
Fan cleared of Lennon assault
SOCCER:A football fan has been cleared of assaulting Celtic manager Neil Lennon during a match last season after a jury found the charge not proven.
John Wilson, 26, was accused of a sectarian attack on Lennon as his side played Hearts in a Premier League game at Tynecastle stadium in Edinburgh.
A jury at Edinburgh Sheriff Court said the charge against Wilson, from the city, was not proven. Wilson was convicted of a breach of the peace.
