GLENCAR, the Irish gold mining firm, has announced that drilling on its Wassa property in Ghana has resulted in further extensions to the known gold deposit. Estimates in February 1997 indicated a proven and probable reserve of 1.1 million ounces of gold.

Since then a further 10,000 metres of drilling has been completed including plant site condemnation drilling. Further ore grade intersections have been returned from the margins of the existing ore zones which will lead to a further increase in the minable reserve.
