Barry Monaghan, the manager of the Irish junior cycling team, has been named Philips manager of the month for October. This follows Mark Scanlon's triumph in the World Junior Championships in Valkenberg in Holland in October. Scanlon's team-mates were Dermot Nally, Shane Prendergast, Stephen Gallagher and David Kenneally.

Monaghan was appointed team manager last April after he had retired from competitive cycling and is set to continue in the position.
