Motor Sport:Reigning Irish Rally and Irish Tarmac champion Tim McNulty will be hoping it is third time lucky this weekend as he prepares to compete in the Cartell.ieKillarney Rally of the Lakes.

The Meath driver has had his last two Rally of the Lakes curtailed by mechanical problems but is hoping that he will make amends this weekend.

McNulty lies in seventh place in the championship this season with only 15 points on the board after his performance in the first round in Galway earlier this year.

The Irish Tarmac Championship leader is Armagh driver Darren Gass. The Subaru driver has won both the opening rounds in Galway and the Circuit of Ireland. The top seed this weekend is Darragh O’Riordan in his Subaru S12.
