The surprising return of Meath midfielder John McDermott is set to be short-lived due to an injury sustained in Saturday's challenge match with Monaghan. McDermott suffered a broken toe in the Navan game and the injury is likely to keep him out for a number of weeks.

The Skryne clubman, who has collected three All Stars, announced his retirement last month but his return was seen as a major boost for Sean Boylan's team as they prepare for Sunday's Leinster semi-final showdown with Kildare.
