Last year's beaten Leinster Schools Senior Cup Section A finalists Marian College will get the chance to take revenge on their conquerors, Mount Temple, in the second round following this win over Portmarnock CS at Castle Avenue. The omens are not that good if this performance is anything to go by. Portmarnock come into this match without a game this season and they showed all the signs of that, producing a poor display that was marked by their disorganisation. Out-half Alan Walsh, winger Simon Revell and number eight Barra McAllister did, however, muster fine individual performances, but that was never going to be enough against a better drilled Marian side who had five of last year's team in action. An early try from flanker Thomas Fitzpatrick set the trend, yet they couldn't break through again until four minutes into the second half when Fitzpatrick got over again beside the posts. Left wing David Og Kennedy converted and ran in the third try in the 46th minute.
