LA LIGA:TOMER HEMED scored from the penalty spot to grab Real Mallorca a 2-2 draw away to Granada last night as the sides played the final 30 minutes of a La Liga match that had been suspended last month.
Hemed scored five minutes into the re-started game which was played behind closed doors at promoted Granada’s Los Carmenes stadium.
The original match had been suspended on November 20th after Granada had taken a 2-1 lead in the 61st minute, when a referee’s assistant was struck by an object thrown from the crowd.
Granada said afterwards the offending article was part of an umbrella and a boy had accidentally sent it flying at the official, gashing his cheek.
The Spanish soccer federation fined Granada €6,000 and ruled that the rest of the match would be played without fans.
The Andalusian side are 12th in the standings with 16 points, one ahead of Mallorca in 14th.
Elsewhere, Celtic will have to wait until tomorrow before Uefa’s disciplinary body meet to discuss accusations of “illicit chanting” during the home win over Rennes on November 3rd.
The club were expecting the complaint, made by the Strathclyde Police match commander to the Uefa match delegate following the Europa League Group I game, to be addressed today.
However, Uefa have an appeals body meeting scheduled to take place which means Celtic’s case, among others, has been put back 24 hours.
Celtic were told on Monday that they had escaped Scottish Premier League action over pro-IRA chanting at their clash with Hibernian on October 29th.
The SPL ruled that the Parkhead club had taken all reasonable action to prevent such “unacceptable conduct”, which was reported by police.
