SENIORS TOUR: England's Carl Mason fired a bogey free six-under-par 66 to take a one-shot lead into the second round of the OKI Castellan Open de España Senior, being played at Club de Camp del Mediterraneo, Spain.

In the penultimate event of 2007, Mason advanced his hopes of a fifth victory of a prolific season where he has already secured a third Order of Merit crown. Spain's Emilio Rodriguez and Chile's Guillermo Encina are one stroke back after firing 67.

The man who has beaten Mason to the John Jacobs Trophy for the last two years, Sam Torrance, is also challenging strongly after a two-under-par 70 as he tries to close out his season in winning fashion.

Eamonn Darcy is best of the Irish on level-par 72 with Jimmy Heggarty and Denis O'Sullivan a shot back on 73.

US TOUR: American Ben Crane and Japan's Daisuke Maruyama share the lead on eight-under-par 132 after the second round of the Fry's Electronics Open at Grayhawk Golf Club, Scottsdale, Arizona.

Crane shot a second-round 66 while Maruyama fired six birdies in a 65 to lead by one from Canada's Mike Weir.

WOMEN'S QUALIFYING: Emma Cabrera-Bello from Spain and France's Camille Fallay led the qualifiers for the final stage of the Ladies European Tour's Qualifying School after tying at the top of the leaderboard at Le Fonti Golf Club in Italy.

Cabrera-Bello carded a final round of five-under 67 for a 12-under-par 54-hole total of 204 while Fallay posted a 71 to share the winning total. Ireland's Marian Riordan on 221 and Heather Nolan on 222 failed to qualify.
