NAAS PREVIEW:MICHAEL KINANE will pursue a third Irish Derby success on Sea The Stars this Sunday and can keep that winning feeling going at Naas this evening where he teams up with the Classic favourite's stable companion Chatline.
The daughter of One Cool Cat has her own Curragh Classic connection as her dam, Marling, landed the Irish 1,000 Guineas in 1992.
Chatline hasn’t come up to that standard but she does look to have a first-rate chance in the six-furlong maiden, based on an encouraging recent debut at Fairyhouse when finishing fourth to Alexander Youth.
Normal improvement should see her being able to cope with the likes of April, who has had plenty of chances to win already this season.
Dermot Weld’s best chance today may come in the conditions fillies race where Casual returns to Naas after finishing runner-up to Duaisbhanna over a mile here last time. Weld raises the Nayef filly up to a mile and a quarter and Casual can take care of the older horse, Kaitlin’s Joy.
Gan Amhras will be Jim Bolger’s Derby representative on Sunday and the trainer can also do well this evening as Ceist Eile can go one better than a close second at Gowran last Sunday in the three-year-old maiden and Seachantach can recoup Leopardstown losses in the last.
